Person County Department of Social Services is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Business Officer I within the Department of Social Services. This position plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the department’s financial and administrative operations. The primary purpose of this position is to plan, lead, manage, and direct all financial and budgetary functions for the Department of Social Services. Responsibilities include overseeing both short-term and long-term financial planning, ensuring fiscal accountability, and supporting the department’s mission through sound financial management. Under the direction of the Social Services Director, the Business Officer I is responsible for the development, research, and preparation of the department’s annual budget. This role also ensures compliance with federal, state, and county financial regulations while maintaining effective internal controls and accurate fiscal reporting.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with a major in business, public, or hospital administration, and four years administrative experience involving participation in the planning and management of a business or governmental program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per County policy.
  • Ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the US within 3 days of employment.
