About The Position

NBH Bank is seeking a Business Banking Officer I to actively pursue business relationships and provide a full range of business banking services, with an emphasis on loan and deposit products, aiming to secure 100% of the client's relationship. This role involves developing and expanding business relationships by contacting potential and existing clients to offer business loans, deposits, and treasury services. The Business Banking Officer will also identify consumer and mortgage opportunities for their business clients and their associates. Key responsibilities include providing financial advice on credit structure and treasury management products, guiding clients through the onboarding process from initial meetings to loan closing, critically reviewing, analyzing, and structuring business loans, and monitoring loan portfolio performance by maintaining contact with borrowers and resolving issues. Proactive client and prospect outreach is essential for acquiring, expanding, and retaining business banking relationships, with a focus on deposit, treasury, and business lending growth. The role also involves promoting the bank's image in the community through participation in community activities and presenting a favorable image that leads to new business opportunities. Associates are expected to build rapport, treat others with respect, and maintain current knowledge and compliance with regulations and bank policies, including BSA and OFAC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administrations or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of banking experience.
  • Minimum 3 years successful business to business development experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 5 years of successful commercial or small business lending.
  • Minimum 5 years of banking experience.
  • Completion of a bank training or formal credit training program.
  • Strong credit background with ability to analyze financial statements, underwrite loans, and prepare loan presentations for approval by credit committees.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate issues.
  • Ability to think creatively and meet challenges with resourcefulness.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build peer and/or team cohesiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Actively pursue business relationships for NBH Bank.
  • Provide a full range of business banking services with an emphasis on loan and deposit business products, with a goal of earning 100% of the client’s relationship.
  • Develops and expands business relationships by calling on potential and existing clients of offer business loans, deposit and treasury services.
  • Identify Consumer and Mortgage opportunities for their Business Clients and the Business Client’s Associates.
  • Provide financial advice and counsel to business clients on credit structure and treasury management products.
  • Counsel the client in all aspects of the onboarding process, from initial meetings to loan closing.
  • Critically review, analyze, and structure business loans.
  • Monitor loan portfolio performance by maintaining contact with the borrowers and understanding and resolving problems when appropriate.
  • Proactively call on clients / prospects / referral sources to ensure maximum results.
  • Promote the Bank’s image in the community by participating in community activities, coordinating community development efforts, and presenting a favorable image in the community that will lead to new business relationship opportunities.
  • Build a great rapport with clients and fellow associates, and treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
  • Maintain current knowledge and consistent compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures related to the position, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements.
