Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of AR, collections, and insurance billing
  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines
  • Team player with a positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Strong understanding of skilled nursing billing and payment
  • Proficient in Microsoft products computer skills
  • Ability to read technical procedures
  • Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare billing or long-term care experience preferred
  • Preferable one-year experience in a long term care facility
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage billing, accounts receivable, and collection activities for private collections in the facility
  • Organize, evaluate, and monitor business office operations
  • Meet with Clinical MDS and Therapy teams to ensure all coding on claims are accurate for billing purposes
  • Ensure integrity and confidentiality of all patients' financial data
  • Perform collection activities for patient accounts
  • Establish and maintain financial record keeping systems including: Issuing receipts, Preparing and making bank deposits, Recording payments using proper segregation of duties
  • Manage census activities including daily, weekly, and monthly balancing with nursing and admissions departments
  • Produce reports for analysis purposes as needed
  • Manage month-end close activities related to charge capture and submission of billing statements/invoices
  • Ensure compliance with all billing policies and procedures
  • Monitor ongoing projects related to AR, billing, and collections within the center
  • File claim appeals and reconsiderations when necessary
  • Obtain managed care and Medi-Cal or Medicaid authorizations including bedholds
  • Assist with managing resident trust fund, including printing and distributing monthly statements
  • Supervise business office staff, including taking appropriate disciplinary measures
  • Maintain census and report status changes
  • May attend stand-up meetings at the request of the Administrator
  • Assist with Medi-Cal or Medicaid applications
  • Prepare TARS as needed
  • Track Medi-Cal and Medicaid redeterminations
  • Participate in billing and payment processes including preparing bank deposits
  • Undertake collection activity for bad debts
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results
  • Assist with the overall supervision and management of the business office staff
