Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have ten key calculator and keyboarding skills.
  • Must possess knowledge of accepted accounting practices.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the principles of Business Office policies/procedures.
  • Must possess basic typing, computer, and good organizational and communication skills.
  • Must possess knowledge in the usage of computers and data input/output to include report retrieval.
  • Must possess the ability to develop and interpret Business Office policies/procedures and apply them in specific situations.
  • Must possess the ability to follow oral and verbal instructions, function independently and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
  • Must demonstrate the ability of personal integrity and dealing tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and personnel.
  • Must be in good physical and mental health, free of communicable diseases.
  • Must possess the ability to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must possess sound judgment in prioritizing the performance of tasks, duties and responsibilities in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.
  • Must possess the ability to be discrete and protect the integrity of confidential information and stay within Compliance.
  • Must possess patience, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm and a willingness to handle residents based on whatever maturity and physical level in which they are currently functioning.
  • Must possess the ability to adhere to professional code of ethics.
  • Must possess the ability to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Business Office Manager in the organization and performance of facility Business Office functions.
  • Assist with the verification of payer eligibility for all patient admission inquiries.
  • Enter and post census, resident fund transactions, cash receipts, adjustments and ancillaries.
  • Assist with communicating census information with pharmacy, labs and other outside providers.
  • Assist with completing facility and resident trust deposits.
  • Assist with the completion of all month-end activities by established deadlines.
  • Assist with Pre-Admission paperwork to local area on aging upon admission.
  • Assist with the distribution of resident funds and facility petty cash.
  • Assist with the facility’s front office and reception areas.
  • Assist with Payroll or HR duties as directed.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure resident rights and privacy are protected at all times.
  • Comply with safety requirements, infection control measures, and maintain a clean work environment in accordance with facility policy.
