The Business Office Coordinator, under the supervision of the Business Office Director and Business Office Supervisor, is responsible for the financial success of the facility as it relates to revenue cycle management. This includes a full understanding of processes such as collections of all payer types, billing and revenue coding, insurance benefit interpretation, authorization, admission sources, payer specific requirements, contract reimbursement, claim editing, clearinghouse processing, adjudication, and appeals/denial management. Business office clerks may change tasks as needed to meet business demands. The role requires projecting a professional demeanor, maintaining confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA, and reporting any suspected violations of laws or the company's Code of Conduct. Employees must fulfill annual competency and continuing education requirements. Personal attributes include being self-directed, accountable, professional, receptive to change, and seeking guidance when needed. The role requires working under stress with patience, stamina, endurance, and tact while providing excellent service, fostering teamwork, and assisting others. Setting priorities, responding timely to issues, and ensuring desired results are achieved through consistent follow-through are essential.
