About The Position

This is an entry-level receptionist position, offering a great opportunity to enter a clinical environment. Under the direction of the site designate leader, you will perform functions related to business and office maintenance activities, including patient appointments, registration, billing functions, cash collection, and phone communication. You will follow established policies and procedures and must demonstrate good customer service skills, adhering to Corewell's philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Receptionist and/or EPIC experience preferred.
  • 1-year experience in a clinical office setting.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience using insurance websites for verification (applicable to East Medical Group practices).

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills while supporting patients, families, providers, and colleagues.
  • Maintain a welcoming presence and serve as the first point of contact for patients and families.
  • Act as a professional first point of contact, ensuring respectful and responsive interactions.
  • Accurately access and update patient information within the electronic medical record (EMR/HER), completing required documentation for each visit or procedure.
  • Verify patient identity, confirm provider orders, and generate exam or visit requests.
  • Communicate necessary information to patients and families while upholding HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
  • Coordinate appointment scheduling and collaborate with providers and clinical offices for efficient patient flow.
  • Provide courteous and efficient telephone support, answering calls, assisting callers, and directing inquiries.
  • Maintain a calm, approachable, and team-oriented demeanor, promoting collaboration with coworkers.
  • Monitor and replenish front desk supplies, escalating broader inventory needs as appropriate.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, including phone calls, check-ins/checking out, and system navigation.
  • Demonstrate strong computer navigation skills, including scanning documents, managing work queues, and assisting patients with digital tools.
  • Verify insurance for patient eligibility and benefits and navigate payer websites.
  • Retrieve, organize, and file medical records and ancillary documents with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Operate standard office and administrative technology, including computer systems and scanners.
  • Actively participate in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
