CASSY is the leader in youth mental health services in the Bay Area and partners with local schools to place competent, compassionate therapists directly on school campuses to provide comprehensive mental health services to all enrolled students at no charge. Our mission is to de-stigmatize mental health services and make supporting students' social and emotional well-being the norm in our schools. CASSY supports students through individual, group, and family counseling, while also offering crisis support and intervention, staff and parent consultations, and classroom lessons on bully prevention, depression, and suicide awareness. Reporting to the Interim Executive Director, the Business Manager provides financial, operational, and administrative support to help ensure organizational stability during a period of leadership transition. This temporary position plays an important role in maintaining strong day-to-day business operations, supporting sound financial management practices, and assisting leadership and the Board in carrying out their fiduciary responsibilities. The Business Manager serves as a financial and operational resource to the Interim Executive Director, Senior Leadership Team, Board Finance Committee, and Board of Directors. Responsibilities include bookkeeping and accounting functions, financial reporting, grant financial tracking, operational coordination, administrative human resources support, and organizational systems management. This temporary bridge position is intended to support CASSY until a permanent Executive Director is hired and future finance and operations leadership needs are evaluated.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or related field required.
  • Three or more years of experience in accounting, finance, business operations, nonprofit administration, or related fields.
  • Experience managing bookkeeping, financial reporting, budgeting support, and operational systems.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and payroll/HR information systems.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging practices.
  • Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional local travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced coursework, graduate education, or relevant professional certifications are a plus.
  • Experience preparing financial reports for leadership, boards, or committees preferred.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, educational, healthcare, behavioral health, or other mission-driven environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with grants management, contract administration, and funder reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, payroll coordination, and monthly financial close activities.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, supporting schedules, and related documentation for leadership, Finance Committee, and Board review.
  • Monitor organizational budget performance and provide variance reporting, forecasting support, and financial analysis in partnership with the (Interim) Executive Director.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation while supporting compliance with financial policies, grant requirements, contracts, and reporting obligations.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource to the (Interim) Executive Director and leadership team.
  • Prepare financial materials and supporting documentation for Finance Committee and Board meetings, attend meetings as requested, and support the Interim Executive Director in fulfilling Board fiduciary responsibilities through timely financial reporting and response to financial inquiries.
  • Partner with the Development Manager to support grant budgeting, invoicing, proposal development, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Track grant expenditures, restricted funding, and contract performance.
  • Maintain and support grant tracking and financial monitoring systems.
  • Coordinate vendor relationships, service agreements, subscriptions, and routine operational activities.
  • Support management of organizational records, administrative systems, and business processes.
  • Assist with resolving operational issues and supporting administrative process improvements as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the Senior People Operations Manager related to personnel records, onboarding, recruitment activities, payroll coordination, compliance documentation, and other human resources functions.
  • Support operational needs related to school-based staff and programs as needed.
  • Support implementation of operational and financial priorities established by organizational leadership.
  • Participate in leadership discussions by providing financial and operational information, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Help maintain continuity during Executive Director transition activities by documenting key processes, systems, and information to support organizational knowledge transfer and onboarding.
  • Contribute to a smooth transition to permanent leadership through effective documentation, organization, and knowledge transfer.
