About The Position

As a Leader in Maintenance, you will be responsible for implementing and executing the established business process for the department. Supporting Shift Leaders and Maintenance Group Leaders in managing the complexity in maintenance operations while fostering an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Must possess the ability to deal with complex problems and strong teamwork. In this position, you will support the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment and participate in training and developing salaried and hourly skilled trades employees, and in the development of highly effective teams. You will support Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across the department, and across the Plant as required. You will serve as a resource supporting launch and pilot activities while helping to meet or exceed production maintenance cost schedule and maintain quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of Maintenance experience.
  • General Assembly experience preferred
  • Must be able to work any shift

Responsibilities

  • Maintain awareness of quality standards and communicates department quality goals and utilizes resources to solve quality issues.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management
  • Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union
  • Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods
  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training)
  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvement.
