About The Position

This position serves as the Business Manager/Lead Accountant at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home in Hot Springs, South Dakota. The incumbent will supervise staff and oversee the department to include billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, resident trust accounts, contracting and cashiers' office within the Veterans Home. This role involves working with the Superintendent and Finance Director on budget development and adherence, and collaborating with all team members to benefit and serve residents. Limited travel may be required for conferences and budget hearings.

Requirements

  • A four year degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Business Management
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of administration with emphasis in organization, fiscal management and budgetary control
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), standards, and practices
  • Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS)
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting software
  • Knowledge of office management
  • Knowledge of purchasing policies and procedures
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct an administrative services program
  • Ability to supervise
  • Ability to deal tactfully with others
  • Ability to interpret rules and regulations
