About The Position

Administers the issuance and renewal of business licenses and permits to include: business licenses, landlord licenses, temporary business licenses, liquor licenses, liquor permits and other special licenses all within the City Code. Duties include initial review on all liquor license applications, investigation of violations of licensing standards, working with businesses to obtain compliance with applicable City Code requirements and regulations, serving as lead contact for the division regarding information, and assisting with the creation and design of computer applications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • At least two years’ governmental experience in code administration or enforcement and investigation, general office procedures, general public contact regarding enforcement, or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must complete required NIMS level training within the first six months of hire.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable state, federal and local laws, rules and regulations related to basic code requirements.
  • Knowledge of recordkeeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to learn new computer programs specifically designed for this position.
  • Basic business arithmetic skills.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to use a personal computer to accurately and rapidly enter and retrieve data and information.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials, and various projects which require attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read to interpret City Code.
  • Ability to work with minor supervision to complete tasks by setting priorities, organizing work, meeting critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments.
  • Ability to use tact and discretion with the general public while using independent judgment.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional periodicals and journals, technical procedures and government regulations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to focus and multi-task with frequent interruptions.
