About The Position

Rockwell Automation is a global technology leader focused on helping the world’s manufacturers be more productive, sustainable, and agile. This Business Lead role reports to the Regional Manager for Software Controls and is a critical and visible position. The territory covers Ohio, with up to 50% travel. The role is based in the territory and involves both remote and office work. Business Unit Leaders serve as commercial and technical resources for a segment of Rockwell Automation's portfolio, specifically Software & Control. The primary objective is to maximize and manage sales within the assigned geography (primarily Ohio) by supporting sales activities, launching new products, ensuring sales and channel competency, providing commercial program support, and executing marketing activities. This role involves advising on proposals, pricing, and sales pursuit strategies, and providing feedback on product/service gaps and development needs for the assigned markets. Areas of expertise include Logix controllers and I/O platforms, Industrial networks switches, Operator interfaces (e.g., PanelView), Industrial Computers, Design Software (e.g., Studio 5000), Operation and Visualization Software (e.g., FactoryTalk products), and Information & Analytics software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to travel 50% of time or more

  • Current, valid Drivers License

  • Typically requires 5+ years of solution and application expertise, and related demonstrated sales experience.

  • Prior or current experience working with all levels of a customer's organization: c-level, executive, plant management, Sellers, Customers, Owners, with knowledge of Automation technologies and services
  • Experience at planning and operationalizing execution to broad range of Sales, Business Unit, and Channel Members.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure regional selling resources maintain appropriate competencies across assigned products and services.
  • Cooperate with the sales force in promoting the product offering for which they are responsible.
  • Lead launch of new products to the sales force and channel.
  • Plan and execute commercial programs related to product responsibility.
  • Define and articulate product differentiators and values versus competition.
  • Provide timely information to support effective management of the business to all levels.
  • Analyze competitive product lines, have knowledge of competitor's strategy, further define competitive differentiators.
  • Participate in trade shows, seminars, Webinars and/or similar marketing activities.
  • Plan and execute training (technical and Commercial) for sales organizations and ecosystem to ensure they are enabled with the latest information to sell the value of assigned product lines to our customers.
  • Ensure market access (System Integrators and Distributors) can articulate value and identify opportunities for new products and technologies within assigned product business.
  • Provide product gap and development feedback to appropriate team.
