About The Position

The Manager, Motorsports Business Intelligence leads the research and intelligence function that transforms market, economic, competitive, and customer data into actionable insight for Yamaha Motorsports. Leading a team of analysis, the role delivers mega, macro, and micro trend analysis, industry and demand forecasts, competitive intelligence, customer segmentation and journey insights, brand positioning, and executive-ready strategic outlooks and briefings. By translating complex data into clear, decision-ready intelligence, this position supports the Strategy & Business Intelligence team’s mid- and long-term planning and strengthens Yamaha’s competitive advantage across the Motorsports portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, Finance, Statistics, Market Research, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in market research, business intelligence, competitive intelligence, strategy, or analytics, including experience delivering insights to senior stakeholders.
  • 2+ years of people leadership or team leadership experience, or demonstrated experience leading analysts and cross-functional research projects.
  • Demonstrated experience translating market, economic, competitive, and customer data into actionable business insight.
  • Experience in motorsports, automotive, powersports, manufacturing, durable goods, consumer products, or a similarly complex product-based business preferred.
  • Advanced expertise in market research methodologies, trend analysis, forecasting, competitive intelligence, and customer/segmentation analytics.
  • Strong command of primary and secondary research, syndicated data sources, and both quantitative and qualitative research techniques.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple research streams and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate complex analyses to diverse audiences, including senior executives.
  • Proven ability to build executive-ready briefings, storytelling, strategic outlooks, and data visualizations that drive decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop analysts and to improve research processes, tools, and data quality.
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong written and oral communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; experience with BI/visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and market research/data platforms required.
  • Operates with a moderate-to-high degree of autonomy in leading the Motorsports business intelligence and research function, establishing research methodologies and analytical standards, prioritizing team resources, and recommending changes to forecasts, research priorities, and market assumptions.
  • Provides independent, data-driven insight and recommendations to the Senior Manager, Strategy & Business Intelligence and senior leadership; major strategy changes and significant commitments are escalated for approval through established governance.
  • Responsible for the direct management and development of a Business Intelligence Analyst and a Research Analyst; team size and structure may evolve based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of mega (5–10 year), macro (economic and demographic), and micro (segment behavior) trend analysis that informs Yamaha Motorsports’ strategic direction.
  • Direct the development of long-term industry, consumer, technological, economic, and business scenario analysis that support planning, investment, and product strategy decisions. demographic trend analysis to identify emerging opportunities, risks, and strategic implications for Yamaha Motorsports business.
  • Lead the creation of enhancement of industry demand forecasts, market outlooks, business scenario analyses that support planning, investment, and product strategy decisions.
  • Oversee competitive intelligence programs, including competitor benchmarking, market-share analysis, product positioning assessments, and strategic monitoring of industry developments.
  • Translate complex business intelligence into concise, executive-ready recommendations, strategic outlooks, presentations, and decision-support materials for senior leadership.
  • Direct customer research and analytics, including customer segmentation, journey mapping, purchase drivers, willingness-to-pay, and brand positionings, and evolving market expectations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the team, establishing research methodologies, analytical standards, and data quality.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager, Strategy & Business Intelligence and cross-functional leaders (Business Management, Product Planning, Sales, Marketing, FP&A) to translate intelligence into strategy and plans.
  • Establish and maintain research tools, data sources, dashboards, and reporting cadences that ensure timely, accurate, and repeatable intelligence delivery.
  • Support evaluation of new business opportunities, adjacent markets, and strategic initiatives through structured research and analysis.
