About The Position

Chewy, Inc. is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer II for their Marketing Operations team in Boston, MA. This full-time role focuses on developing and implementing analytical frameworks to measure the impact of digital assets on customer behavior, operational performance, and financial outcomes. The position involves supporting experiment design, analyzing results from product launches and feature enhancements, and translating findings into actionable insights. Responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining scalable analytics dashboards and reporting solutions, as well as designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining data architectures and data pipelines using SQL. The role also requires assessing data requirements, collaborating with technical teams, performing data quality validation, and developing new data tables, metrics, and analytical products. Contributions to automation initiatives for data ingestion, transformation, and distribution of recurring reports, along with maintaining documentation and participating in data governance, are key. The engineer will document technical designs, monitor metrics and report outputs, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver data-driven insights. This role requires 5% domestic travel and allows telecommuting up to 2 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, and 5 years of experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst, or related position/occupation.
  • Masters in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, and 2 years of experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst, or related position/occupation.
  • Experience or coursework must include: Automating data processes, developing dashboards, and building scalable analytics solutions in an ecommerce, omni-channel, or retail setting.
  • Managing ETL or data transformation processes, technical architecture documents, and deliver net new or enhancing existing data warehouses.
  • Experience with data platforms such as: Snowflake, AWS, Vertica, or comparable data pipelines.
  • SQL.
  • Writing, debugging, and optimizing SQL queries.
  • Data modeling in large, cloud-based data warehousing/data lake environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement analytical frameworks to measure the impact of digital assets on customer behavior, operational performance, and financial outcomes.
  • Support experiment design, analyze results from product launches and feature enhancements, and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable analytics dashboards and reporting solutions that provide accurate, timely, and intuitive insights for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain data architectures and data pipelines using SQL to support analytical and reporting needs in alignment with business requirements and data engineering best practices.
  • Assess data requirements for Healthcare and related business functions, collaborate with technical teams to deliver proof-of-concept analyses, perform data quality validation, and develop new data tables, metrics, and analytical products.
  • Contribute to automation initiatives for data ingestion, transformation, and distribution of recurring reports and datasets to multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Maintain and enhance documentation for key metrics and datasets, and participate in data governance and quality assurance processes.
  • Document technical designs and analytical work using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git.
  • Monitor existing metrics and report outputs, propose refinements and optimizations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver data-driven insights that support business decision-making.
