Business Intelligence Developer
About The Position
AFL is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Power BI Developer to support the design, development, and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and data models. Working directly with the company’s operational team, the developer will help enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. The position supports AFL’s Operational Excellence strategy through hands-on dashboard development and implementation to monitor core manufacturing processes, provide manufacturing intelligence, and support problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives. The role is based in Duncan, South Carolina, with a hybrid schedule for qualifying employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 0–2 years of experience working with Power BI or similar business intelligence/reporting tools.
- Basic understanding of relational databases, SQL, and data modeling concepts.
- Familiarity with Power Query (M language) and introductory-level DAX expressions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
Nice To Haves
- Exposure to Excel, Tableau, or other BI tools.
- Basic understanding of ETL processes.
- Basic knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
- Familiarity with version control processes and tools such as Git.
Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and maintaining interactive Power BI dashboards and reports based on business requirements.
- Identify, validate, and integrate data from ERP, MES, manufacturing, quality, and other operational systems.
- Clean, transform, and model data using Power Query and DAX.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather reporting requirements.
- Assist in optimizing report performance, data models, and refresh processes.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of reporting data.
- Support monitoring data refresh schedules and troubleshooting data issues.
- Document report specifications, processes, and data sources.
- Stay up to date with Power BI best practices and basic data visualization techniques.
- Perform data analysis to support continuous improvement activities.
