About The Position

The Business Intelligence Architect is the primary builder of the organization’s Power BI reporting. IT and data engineering maintain the underlying data tables; this role writes SQL queries to retrieve information from those tables, brings it into Power BI, and develops dashboards and reports used by leaders to make decisions. Working with minimal guidance, the role owns BI work from the initial business conversation through the completed, published product. Success requires deep technical skills in Power BI and SQL, sound analytical judgment, and a working understanding of business operations. The position serves as a go-to BI resource and explains complex data in accessible terms to non-technical audiences. The role designs, builds, publishes, and maintains Power BI dashboards and reports; connects reports to existing data; and configures relationships, calculated columns, calculations, and KPI formulas. It uses Power Query to shape and clean data, manages workspaces, refreshes, gateways, and access, and tunes reports for speed and accuracy as data volume grows. It also builds and supports paginated reports in SSRS when formatted, printable reports are required. The position partners with business stakeholders, IT, and data engineering to identify reporting needs, assess feasibility, agree on solutions and timelines, request new tables or fields, and resolve data-quality issues. It validates report results against source data, monitors KPIs and trends, develops recommendations, presents findings and project updates to senior leadership, and leads multiple BI projects from intake through delivery. Additional responsibilities include tracking work and releases in Azure DevOps, training report users and colleagues, mentoring less experienced colleagues, and controlling project costs related to licensing and development time. The work environment is office-based or hybrid, depending on location and team structure, with frequent cross-departmental communication and extended computer work. The schedule is Monday through Friday during standard business hours, with flexibility required for deadlines, releases, or data issues outside normal hours.
