Business Intelligence Analyst
About The Position
The Business Intelligence Analyst supports the Strategy and Analytics team by conducting detailed analyses and creating reports, dashboards, and visualizations that provide information for informed business decisions. The role uses data from multiple sources, identifies trends and insights, ensures data quality and integrity, and collaborates with stakeholders across the business to understand information requirements and maintain the integrity of the data platform through audits. The analyst uses business intelligence and reporting software, database tools, Microsoft Excel, and Office automation to design, build, assess, maintain, improve, and distribute dashboards and reports, combine data, and present accurate information. The position also develops management reporting and analyzes business risks and opportunities to make recommendations that support profitability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Data Analytics, Math, Statistics, or another analytical/data-driven discipline.
- 0–2 years of experience working in business intelligence; co-op and internship experience counts.
- High proficiency in data modeling and analysis, with demonstrated ability using Excel, Power BI, Python, and SQL.
- Strong SQL experience, knowledge of relational databases, and ability to build and maintain views.
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Data-driven analytical skills and knowledge of or experience related to financial analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
- Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing demands and deadlines.
- Ability to conduct basic statistical and correlation analysis to identify patterns and trends.
- Excellent skills in Excel, R or Python, and SQL.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SAP; Power BI is preferred.
- Creativity, relationship-building skills, and dedication.
Responsibilities
- Distill complex data and relationships into clear, concise charts and visualizations, and support ad hoc data requests and analysis.
- Design data models to extract data from operational databases and transform it into easily understood business views.
- Gather and process raw data at scale using methods such as scripts, web scraping, APIs, and SQL queries.
- Process unstructured data into a form suitable for analysis and conduct the analysis.
- Automate manual processes.
- Navigate CRM and other systems to build reporting and ensure consistency and compliance across departments.
- Develop monthly management KPIs, reports, and BI dashboards for stakeholders across technology, operations, field, billing, and other business functions.
- Conduct in-depth analysis to identify key business risks and opportunities and recommend ways to improve overall profitability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to understand information requirements and maintain data integrity, including performing audits in the data platform.
- Design, build, assess, maintain, improve, and distribute dashboards and reports using BI, database, spreadsheet, and Office automation tools.
