Requirements

  • JD or LLM degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an attorney required
  • Membership in a U.S. state bar or the District of Columbia bar required
  • Experience researching complex technical immigration issues and formulating solutions, including completing appropriate documentation
  • Experience utilizing legal precedents (e.g., BALCA decisions, USCIS Policy Memoranda, DOL Policy Memoranda) to address client situations and develop solutions
  • Experience providing mentoring, coaching, and performance management feedback to Associates and support staff
  • Understanding immigration law requirements from a business perspective, including billing goals, corporate policy implementation, and HR requirements
  • Experience drafting and reviewing complex legal analyses in response to government requests
  • Experience drafting and reviewing complex immigration petitions, including: O-1, TN, H-1B, and L-1 petitions; EB-1 (a), (b), and (c) petitions (extraordinary ability, multinational manager, outstanding researcher); National interest and I-140 petitions; and EB-2 and EB-3 PERM applications

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the client base, supported industries, and the firm’s practice areas and services
  • Utilize legal precedents to address client situations and develop creative solutions
  • Research complex technical immigration issues and formulate solutions, including completing appropriate documentation
  • Execute case preparation and filings, and develop strategies for complex matters
  • Clearly articulate complex issues to a variety of audiences
  • Understand the business strategy of both the practice area and the firm overall
  • Build, strengthen, and maintain strong client relationships with key stakeholders, Partners, and others
  • Participate in client meetings, briefings, workshops, Q&A sessions, and proactively provide client reporting
  • Communicate proactively with clients following SLAs and team protocols, ensuring responses are precise, efficient, and well-organized
  • Ensure adherence to firm protocols for file maintenance, record keeping, and use of firm systems, including data quality standards
  • Meet individual and team productivity goals and identify opportunities to cross-sell or bill for out-of-scope services
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and standardization of processes, products, or services
  • Participate in marketing and business development opportunities
  • Ensure adherence to firm standards and policies to mitigate risk and maintain regulatory, operational, and client compliance
