About The Position

GFL Environmental is seeking a detail-oriented Business Financial Analyst to support financial planning and performance analysis in its mid and Northern Michigan service areas. The role includes analyzing financial data, preparing reports, forecasting and budgeting, and collaborating with departments to identify cost savings and revenue opportunities. The position is based in Traverse City or Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field.
• Understanding of accounting, finance, and operational processes.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Suite.
• Ability to adapt to industry-specific programs.
• Strong data interpretation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements, cash flow, profit and loss, and budget variances, and forecast future performance.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities and potential for revenue growth.
• Monitor market trends, the competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to inform strategy.
• Conduct variance analysis and use company statistical software to interpret data.
• Review financial systems, procedures, and controls and recommend improvements.
• Ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal controls.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, HR, and IT, to align financial data with business needs.
