About The Position

GFL is seeking a detail-oriented Business Financial Analyst to support financial planning and performance analysis in its mid and Northern Michigan service areas. The role involves analyzing financial data, preparing reports, forecasting and budgeting, and collaborating with departments to identify cost savings and revenue opportunities. The analyst will use company statistical software and work with cross-functional teams, operations, HR, and IT to align financial data with business needs.

Requirements

• Understanding of accounting, finance, and operational processes.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Suite, with the ability to adapt to industry-specific programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements, cash flow, profit and loss, and budget variances; forecast future performance.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities and potential for revenue growth.
• Monitor market trends, the competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to inform strategy.
• Conduct variance analysis and use company statistical software to interpret data.
• Review financial systems, procedures, and controls and recommend changes.
• Ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal controls.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, operations, HR, and IT to align financial data with business needs.
