About The Position

The Business Development Specialist will play a vital role in the development and growth of revenue in our Transportation division. As the Business Development Specialist, you will support a group of top Producers while also learning the overall sales process. You will focus on driving new business sales and be mentored by veteran producers. You will be responsible for generating and qualifying leads, identifying opportunities for cross selling, and directly increasing the amount of time Producers are able to focus on selling and closing opportunities. This position will report to the VP / Transportation Sales Leader in HUB Colorado.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, preferably with advanced Excel skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to utilize data to uncover leads/opportunities
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task, while demonstrating sense of urgency
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience

Nice To Haves

  • bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Prior insurance industry experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze lead lists through a variety of tools and creative means, including research technology, social media, and competitor knowledge and analyses
  • Use data mining and innovative methods to view key market indicators such as geography, revenue, and employee count to create new leads
  • Conduct cold-calling campaigns with prospective clients and contact warm leads where relevant
  • Maintain regular proactive touch points with Producers to discuss areas on which to focus, with current customers and prospects; provide leads and follow up as appropriate
  • Conduct outreach efforts including email blasts and social media posts
