About The Position

The JAA Business Development Specialist Sr. will be responsible for managing external partner relationships among the Third-Party Administrators (TPA) and Self-Administered joint administered arrangement (JAA) payors. This position will be responsible developing new business areas which complement existing offerings. This role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office. Candidates not within a reasonable commuting distance from the posting location(s) will not be considered for employment, unless accommodation is granted as required by law.

Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS degree and a minimum of 2 years of business development experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience within Joint Administered Arrangement (JAA), especially with JAA claims (837/835 formats), implementation and/or customer service with third-party administrators.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, and attention to detail skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail and well organized to support external partner relationship management.
  • High proficiency with data & analytics, reporting generation and synthesis.
  • EST/CST candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops business plans and formulate strategies for both new and existing businesses.
  • Monitors and analyzes product lines to help determine optimal strategy.
  • Provides research, analysis and recommendations on the external environment as part of the development of strategic plans for the business unit.
  • Analyzes major competitor strategies.
  • Identifies and monitors changing patterns of competition and recommends response.
  • Acquires and maintains data/information on market, industry, economic, consumer and competitive conditions and trends pertaining to health insurance/managed care and related services.
  • May lead or coordinate the activities of lower level staff performing related functions.
  • Supports operational excellence, BCBSA compliance, and inventory performance among a portfolio of JAA partners including onboarding, new client implementation support, claims support along the 837/835 file interoperability and failures, inquiry resolution, and other ad hoc needs by the payors.
  • Work extensively across internal Anthem operational teams spanning benefits, implementation, claims, InterPlan, CarelonRx, Information Technology (IT) to ensure JAA payor partnership runs smoothly.
  • Regular connection points with JAA Payors through daily email correspondence and weekly check-in meetings for ongoing support, issue resolution, and relationship management.
  • Continuous problem-solving to investigate and project manage issues to solution stemming from Payor challenges/incorrect procedures or internal Anthem failure points.
  • Regularly leverage data & analytics to identify opportunities for improvement, creating reports for JAA payors as needed.
