About The Position

We’re hiring a Business Development Representative (BDR), to drive new-logo growth across the Kentucky and Indiana markets. This is a sales role for someone who enjoys prospecting, creating opportunities, building relationships, and closing business. As a BDR, you will own your territory and pipeline from lead creation to close. You’ll prospect small businesses, qualify opportunities, uncover business needs, and sell Matrix solutions that help customers reduce risk, improve productivity, and support growth. You will be expected to run your assigned territory as if it were your own business — managing your prospecting plan, pipeline, campaigns, customer conversations, and close plans with focus and accountability. This role includes outbound phone, email, social media, marketing campaign follow-up, lead qualification, and event support. Matrix expects strong activity, consultative selling, and consistent pipeline creation, including building forecasted pipeline toward 3x expected quota. Target Customers You’ll focus on small businesses with 30–100 users, primarily in: Manufacturing Healthcare Finance Utilities Professional Services Other businesses with critical IT needs You’ll engage contacts such as: Business Owners Office Managers COOs CIOs IT Directors Network Administrators Other business or IT decision-makers

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of sales-related experience preferred.
  • Experience with sales prospecting or telephone prospecting.
  • Experience qualifying leads, managing opportunities, and closing business.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-secondary education preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understand customer needs.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented company.
  • Ability to learn technical solutions and explain them in plain English.
  • Confidence handling objections and competitive questions.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and close new business opportunities.
  • Build and manage qualified new-logo pipeline.
  • Execute outbound outreach through phone, email, social media, campaigns, and events.
  • Qualify prospects based on fit, business need, urgency, budget, and decision process.
  • Create new conversations with business and IT leaders.
  • Manage opportunities with clear next steps, close dates, and close plans.
  • Partner with Marketing on campaigns, lead follow-up, appointments, tradeshows, and events.
  • Collaborate with Matrix technical resources to support qualified opportunities.
  • Track all prospecting and selling activity in HubSpot.
  • Share market feedback, objections, and competitive insights with Sales and Marketing.
  • Learn Matrix’s technology solutions and clearly communicate business value.
