As the Business Development Representative for the Valdosta/Tifton market, you will drive hospital growth by promoting our programs and services, building and maintaining strong referral relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and expanding patient access to care. This role focuses on developing strategic partnerships, managing referral accounts, understanding partner needs, and executing marketing initiatives that increase patient census and support the hospital’s growth objectives. This position requires 75+% travel and use of personal vehicle; mileage is reimbursable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health area, marketing, business administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Two years’ experience in healthcare business development, healthcare direct sales/marketing, or contract management environment
  • Direct experience developing managed care agreements
  • Detailed knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license with appropriate endorsement
  • Ability to utilize personal vehicle for travel (75+%)

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and grow referral relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, employers, community agencies, hospitals, and other key referral sources through regular outreach and account management
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities while implementing strategic sales activities, including 40-45 pre-qualified sales calls per week, to increase referrals and patient census
  • Monitor referral trends, admissions data, and market conditions to identify growth opportunities and support the development of effective marketing strategies
  • Represent hospital at conferences, workshops, community events, and educational programs to promote services and strengthen community partnerships; coordinate and facilitate program-focused workshops, training sessions, seminars, and promotional activities to increase awareness of hospital services
  • Serve as the liaison for managed care organizations by coordinating applications, maintaining contracts, and fostering strong payer relationships; maintain accurate account records and prepare required reports, including weekly activity updates, month-end summaries, annual reports, and budget information
  • Stay informed on healthcare industry trends, contribute to marketing initiatives, and provide guidance to team members on effective business development strategies
