About The Position

This role focuses on business development within the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector, specifically managing a pipeline of energy-efficiency projects in the New Jersey territory. The position involves prospecting, qualifying, and closing projects, progressing them through a defined sales process using Salesforce/eTrac. Additionally, the role may require supporting residential programs as needed, overseeing vendor performance, leading cross-functional teams, developing and maintaining program processes, and ensuring compliance with business controls and regulatory requirements. The individual will also be responsible for monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), preparing reports, and serving as an advocate within the territory to build relationships with community and trade partners. Requirements

  • Experience managing vendor performance.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Energy Efficiency or Electric Vehicle program experience.
  • Experience in Business/Customer Relationship Development.
  • Management / leadership experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • B.S. Degree in Management, Engineering, Business, and 5+ years of experience in the space of energy efficiency programs and business development.
  • In lieu of a degree, 9+ years of experience in the space of energy efficiency programs and business development.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification.
  • MBA or Advanced Degree.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a commercial and industrial pipeline across the assigned New Jersey territory.
  • Prospect, qualify, and close energy-efficiency projects with C&I customers.
  • Progress opportunities through a defined multi-stage sales process in Salesforce / eTrac.
  • Refer residential opportunities encountered in the field into the appropriate residential program pathways.
  • Oversee the performance of vendors, both office and field, that have been contracted to deliver program services.
  • Manage employee performance and ensure safety protocols and practices are followed.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams, including other CES members, Customer Care, Contracting, Procurement, Legal, Marketing, IT, etc., as required to deliver program services, enhance program delivery / customer experience, and resolve business issues.
  • Develop and maintain program processes.
  • Provide oversight for business controls, process improvement, and compliance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automate where possible.
  • Monitor program Key Performance Indicators to ensure program delivery meets business plan expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present program and project status reports to customers and management.
  • Serve as an advocate across territory, building relationships with community, municipal, and trade-association partners to drive C&I program awareness.
  • Capture Voice of the Customer feedback and field intelligence for program teams.
  • Assist with special projects as necessary.
