About The Position

The Business Development Partner is responsible for generating and developing new business, employer, community, and membership acquisition. This role serves as a connector between OneAZ Credit Union and Arizona employers, businesses, community organizations, and strategic partners, creating a consistent pipeline of opportunities that contributes to membership, deposit, loan, and relationship growth. Working closely with Retail, Commercial Lending, Community Impact & Partnerships, the OneAZ Community Foundation, Marketing, and regional leadership, the Business Development Partner will identify prospects, build relationships, generate referrals, support Select Employer Group (SEG) and Workplace Banking opportunities, and ensure qualified opportunities move through the pipeline to measurable results.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business administration, Marketing, or a related field Required
  • 3-5 years similar or related experience in Business Development and/or Community Relationship Development required
  • Proven experience in business development or a related role.
  • Strong relationship-building, networking, and business development skills with the ability to develop and maintain external partnerships.
  • Strong verbal, written, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and maintain an active pipeline.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business tracking systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop actionable insights.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and results-driven mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and prioritize new business development opportunities, including target employer groups, emerging businesses, high-volume organizations, and member acquisition opportunities.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective members, employers, businesses, and organizations, ensuring qualified opportunities receive timely follow-up and progress through the business development process.
  • Conduct strategic outreach to HR departments, business owners, key decision-makers, community leaders, and centers of influence through networking, referrals, meetings, on-site visits, events, and new social and business settings.
  • Maintain a documented pipeline within internal reporting platforms, tracking lead status, outreach activity, opportunities, conversions, and ROI to inform market-level planning and business development strategy.
  • Represent OneAZ with a high level of professionalism, build rapport quickly across diverse audiences, and convert relationships into qualified opportunities.
  • Partner with internal teams to provide a white-glove member experience from referral through onboarding.
  • Identify and pursue potential SEG relationships within the assigned region.
  • Build relationships with employers and organizational leaders to introduce OneAZ's financial products, services, financial education, and Workplace Banking capabilities.
  • Partner with Retail teams to support employee engagement and membership acquisition.
  • Identify opportunities for direct deposit, lending, deposits, financial education, and other product relationships.
  • Assist with SEG onboarding and ongoing relationship management.
  • Track SEG activity and results within our pipeline and reporting process.
  • Identify employers that may benefit from a OneAZ Workplace Banking relationship and help develop strategies to engage and deepen those relationships.
  • Coordinate with appropriate internal partners to develop employer-specific engagement strategies and ensure effective representation.
  • Support onsite and virtual employee financial education and engagement opportunities as needed.
  • Generate employee membership, product, and direct deposit opportunities through Workplace Banking activities.
  • Track participation, referrals, new memberships, direct deposit opportunities, and other measurable outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Identify Arizona-based businesses with lending, deposit, treasury, or other financial needs, including new businesses entering or expanding within the market.
  • Develop relationships with business owners and key decision-makers through chambers, economic development organizations, industry groups, and other business networking activities.
  • Partner with Commercial Lending and Business Banking teams to refer qualified opportunities and support relationship development.
  • Maintain an active referral pipeline and monitor local business activity to identify opportunities for business and commercial growth.
  • Leverage OneAZ’s community presence and existing relationships to identify qualified business, employer, and membership opportunities.
  • Partner with Community Impact & Partnerships and the OneAZ Community Foundation to identify and develop strategic opportunities with community organizations, nonprofits, schools, employers, and businesses.
  • Attend community events, initiatives, chamber gatherings, referral networks, and employer-facing opportunities with a focus on relationship development, lead generation, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Support financial education and community initiatives that strengthen relationships and create opportunities for deeper engagement with OneAZ.
  • Follow up on community-generated leads and referrals and track conversion outcomes to demonstrate ROI for events to recommend continuation, expansion, or sunset of recurring events based on documented conversion outcomes.
  • Work closely with Branch Managers, Regional Leads, Market Presidents, and Retail associates to identify opportunities.
  • Establish a consistent referral process between business development and retail.
  • Provide branches with qualified leads and relationship opportunities.
  • Participate in regional sales and growth meetings.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on targeted outreach and market-specific initiatives.
  • Help identify opportunities to increase Primary Financial Institution (PFI) relationships.
  • Maintain accurate and timely information in the designated business development tracking systems.
  • Document prospects, contacts, activities, opportunities, next steps, and outcomes.
  • Maintain an active pipeline and establish clear next actions for each qualified opportunity.
  • Track referrals through conversion.
  • Provide regular updates on membership, loans, deposits to leadership.
  • Utilize Sigma and other reporting tools to monitor results and identify opportunities.
