About The Position

ASSA ABLOY is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive strategic growth by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities. This on-site role, based in Ontario, California, will support the Northern and Southern California markets. The Business Development Manager will translate customer needs into engineered solutions, collaborate cross-functionally, and act as the voice of the customer. The role involves taking ownership of a defined regional market, developing and implementing business development strategies, building strategic relationships, and executing strategic initiatives. The position requires partnering with internal teams to ensure accurate and competitive proposals, facilitating educational opportunities, and developing relationships with architectural firms. Market research, proactive engagement with industry professionals, and representing the company at industry events are also key responsibilities. The role also includes maintaining CRM records, contributing to pricing strategies, championing the brand, and ensuring compliance with regulations and corporate policies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Marketing, Business or a related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably in a custom manufacturing or engineered-to-order environment.
  • Strong understanding of building materials, construction cycles, and specification-driven sales.
  • Demonstrated ability to open new doors, close strategic deals, and manage a technical sales process.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and ability to analyze market data to inform strategy.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to support customer engagement and industry networking.
  • Strong teamwork orientation, thriving in a collaborative environment that achieves both individual and collective goals.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize projects under tight time deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a defined regional market and become the go-to expert for custom-engineered door and frame solutions, helping to shape project success from concept through completion with a sharp focus on moving the business forward.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies targeting new and existing customers.
  • Build, drive, and maintain strategic relationships that promote strong profitability and organic growth.
  • Execute strategic initiatives as identified by Regional Door Group Leadership.
  • Be a crucial part of an aggressive go-to-market strategy.
  • Partner with internal teams (DSS, Engineering, Estimating, Order Entry, Customer Care, and Operations) to ensure proposals are accurate, competitive, and aligned with our capabilities, with the goal of winning business and solving complex customer challenges.
  • Facilitate educational, training, and product knowledge opportunities for internal and external customers.
  • Work with our internal architectural teams to identify, train, educate, and develop strategic relationships with key architectural firms.
  • Develop or be able to clearly articulate an intimate understanding of Division 8 Conduct market research to identify trends, new markets, and competitive insights.
  • Proactively engage and build long-term relationships with architects, contractors, distributors, and other decision-makers in the custom-building materials space.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer visits to promote our capabilities and generate leads.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, pipeline reports, and performance metrics to track progress toward sales goals.
  • Develop and contribute to proactive solutions around pricing strategies and value propositions in alignment with product management and leadership.
  • Champion our brand and customer-first mindset while supporting long-term partnerships and repeat business while protecting profit margins.
  • Take on additional projects and assignments as needed.
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, local regulations, as well as corporate policies, AADG programs and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
