About The Position

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategic growth opportunities across international markets. This role involves building strong relationships with partners, clients, and internal stakeholders to drive revenue, expand market presence, and support long-term business objectives. The successful candidate should increase client base and secure revenue streams that provide foundation for sustainable business expansion and financial growth.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of mineral exploration and mining industry. Metallurgical processes will be a bonus.
  • Familiarity with geochemical laboratories services, including lab workflows, sampling procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of chemical analysis techniques, reagent handling, and equipment used in on-site labs.
  • Understanding of proposal writing, cost estimation, and technical sales in the exploration and mining industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients and technical teams.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong project management and financial acumen.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Multilingual skills are an asset.

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communication or Economics.

  • 5 – 7 years of experience on business development, sales or senior client service, or strategic partnerships, preferably with international experience.
  • Applied Geochemical/Geology experience with a minimum of 3-5 years in an analytical or metallurgical lab.
  • Experience with CRM software or similar and data analysis and reporting tools.
  • PowerPoint champion - Excellent experience in preparing and delivering presentations to clients and management team.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate new international markets, channels and customer segments for business growth.
  • Identify and follow up on new business leads in the region.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key partners and stakeholders to support regional expansion.
  • Collaborate with sales teams and/or Customer Service teams within Europe region to develop and implement effective go-to-market strategies tailored to specific business opportunities.
  • Generate and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities through the exploration networking, lead generation and industry events.
  • Work closely with business unit client services, business development, finance and legal teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of client contracts and expansion of service offerings.
  • Align Service offers to Geochemistry service but also work in conjunction with Metallurgy, Environmental, Inspection, Geoanalytics, Mine site, and other ALS business streams to increase scope of services offered and business opportunities.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.
  • Align proposals to ALS price strategies and align it to market conditions in consultation with site managers.
  • Analyze quotes win rate and provide necessary guidance to site managers based on trends.
  • In conjunction with client services teams, ensure regular and timely follow up on quotes issued/tenders issued.
  • Organize brown bags event in conjunction with technical experts within ALS to promote ALS services.
  • Work directly with existing clients to expand the scope of current service offering (both through existing value chain and through other ALS services).
  • Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams to ensure seamless communication, timely delivery of services, and prompt resolution of any issues or concerns.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within existing and potential client organizations.
  • Provide input and insights to support marketing and promotional initiatives targeted at increasing brand visibility and market share.
  • Encourage customer feedback through annual clients surveys to identify growth business opportunities. Analyze results obtained through the client survey and prepare debrief meeting with site managers for review and to define appropriate improvement actions.
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • An estimated annual salary of $130,000 - $150,000 at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
