About The Position

The Business Development Manager is responsible for generating sales opportunities within an assigned territory with outside insurance agents/brokers. Manages the relationship between Pearl Insurance and the agency/broker. Assists with the placement of new business and managing overall book results with agents/brokers within assigned territory. Your Impact: Drive new business from existing agent/broker partners and solicit new agent/broker partnership opportunities for Pearl Insurance within an assigned territory to grow Pearl’s overall book of business. 1.) Book Management: New & renewal metrics, tracking results and address trends with broker partners. 2.) Helping facilitate new business opportunities from submission to issuance. 3.) Consistently touching base with assigned broker network to address issues, uncover opportunities, and promote the Pearl Insurance value proposition. Build and maintain relationships with existing agent/broker partners by assisting with new business submissions and service issues. Hold recurring quarterly status meetings with appointed brokers; drive accountability by reviewing key performance indicators. Travel, as needed, to build relationships with existing and new agents. Facilitate the application and underwriting process with the agent/broker and the internal underwriter; follow up with the agent/broker when additional information is needed from the client to complete the underwriting process in the event the underwriter is not able to obtain the information from the agent/broker. Provide quotes to agents/brokers and assist with marketing materials and the presentation of the quote to the insured/prospective insured. Articulate Pearl’s value proposition to agents/brokers through available digital platforms and marketing collaterals, such as Pearl’s Monthly Broker Newsletter. Follow up with the agent/broker regarding market placement. Represent Pearl Insurance at conventions and trade shows as needed. Stay up to date on product, market, and industry knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing, or a related field.
  • Previous outside business-to-business sales experience within the insurance industry preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to interface effectively at all levels within an organization.
  • Property and Casualty insurance license required (or the ability to obtain).
  • Valid driver’s license with a record of safe driving required.
