Requirements

• Above all, you are hungry, humble, and people-smart.
• Industry Experience: 8+ years of business development experience, preferably within commercial construction or construction management.
• Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the MD/DC/Northern Virginia construction market and how relationships drive work.
• Relationship Builder: Proven ability to develop and maintain meaningful client and industry relationships.
• Sales Drive: Demonstrated success in identifying opportunities, leading pursuits, and securing new business.
• Communication & Influence: Confident, persuasive communicator who can motivate others to act and build alignment.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture while moving quickly to act on opportunities.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive Growth. Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia.
• Build Relationships. Develop and maintain strong connections with clients, architects, engineers, and industry partners to drive long-term opportunities.
• Lead Pursuits. Own proposals, presentations, and client conversations that position Benchmark as the partner of choice.
• Create Opportunities. Proactively generate new leads through networking, industry involvement, and creative outreach.
• Shape Strategy. Provide market insights, identify trends, and contribute to strategic growth planning with leadership.
• Collaborate to Win. Partner with operations, estimating, and leadership to align opportunities with execution and deliver successful outcomes.
• Own Your Pipeline. Manage and track opportunities, maintaining a clear and active pipeline that drives consistent results.
