Business Development Manager - OEM Chassis

Atonne Group IncWyoming, MI

About The Position

HME Ahrens-Fox is uniquely positioned as a vertically integrated manufacturer. We build our own chassis. This role is designed to monetize that advantage by launching parallel business lines that bypass traditional 3–5-year lead times. You are the Director of the "HME Platform." You are responsible for the P&L of the chassis whenever it leaves the factory without a new HME body—whether it’s going to another builder, being mated to a legacy body, or acting as the foundation for a strategic partner. Key Responsibilities (The Three Growth Engines) Engine 1: The "HME Powered" Supplier Strategy (OEM Chassis Sales) The Mission: Become the "Intel Inside" of the Fire Industry.   Market Capture & Displacement: There are dozens of regional fire truck manufacturers held hostage by long lead times and high prices from custom chassis providers. Your mandate is to liberate them. You will aggressively market the HME Custom Chassis as the superior, available alternative, displacing the other custom cabs in the market.   The "Plug-and-Play" Architecture: You will lead the development of an "OEM Integration Playbook." This is a technical and commercial package that gives a regional builder everything they need—CAD files, electrical interface modules, and mounting guides—to drop their body onto an HME chassis seamlessly.   Strategic "Swim Lanes": You will master the delicate art of Channel Conflict Management. You will act as the "Commissioner" of territories, structuring Master Supply Agreements (MSAs) that ensure a chassis sold to a regional builder does not compete directly with an HME Dealer’s bid in the same county. Engine 2: The "Total Solution" Ecosystem (Strategic Alliances) The Mission: Own the Dealer's Entire "Share of Wallet."   Portfolio Fortification: You will conduct a "White Space Analysis" of the HME Dealer Network to identify revenue leakage (e.g., dealers selling competitor Tankers or Ambulances). You will identify and vet "Best-in-Class" third-party manufacturers to fill these gaps.   The "HME Select" Program: You will negotiate Exclusive Distribution Alliances, acting as a high-level distributor. You will create a program where HME dealers can sell these partner products to offer a "One-Stop Shop" solution, generating "Pass-Through" revenue for HME.   Brand Stewardship: You are the gatekeeper. You will establish a rigorous vetting process to ensure any Aerial, Tanker, or Ambulance sold alongside an HME truck meets our quality standards, protecting the HME Ahrens-Fox brand reputation. Engine 3: The "Second Life" Re-Manufacturing Program The Mission: The Surgical Transplant.   Technical Strategy: Lead the engineering and operations strategy for migrating current customer apparatus major components onto new HME Spectr or 1871 chassis.   Feasibility & Compliance: Develop the "Feasibility Criteria" to decide which legacy assets are eligible for transfer. You will manage the engineering of "bridge components" (wiring harnesses, plumbing adapters) and oversee the NFPA 1912 compliance process to ensure the final "Hybrid Vehicle" is safe, certified, and warranty backed. Leverage and market the entire current and needed future product and service portfolio of Valley Truck Parts as a tactical advantage of remanufactured components.  The Value Pitch: You will own the narrative that convinces a Fire Chief to "Save their Body, Upgrade their Cab," positioning this as a solution that offers the safety of a modern truck at 60% of the cost and 30% of the lead time. Candidate Profile Technical Authority (Re-Manufacturing Focused)   Heavy-Duty Chassis Expert: You must understand frame rail geometry (RBM), axle loading, and weight distribution. Mounting an old body on a new chassis is a high-stakes engineering puzzle; if the measurements are off by an inch, the project fails.   NFPA 1912 Mastery: Deep understanding of the Standard for Fire Apparatus Reconditioning.   Manufacturing Ops: Experience managing "Customer-Furnished Equipment" (CFE). You know the logistics of receiving, dismantling, cataloging, and re-integrating used parts. Commercial Leadership (OEM & Alliance Focused)   The "Industrial Diplomat": You must have political savvy to sell a chassis to a competitor (Engine 2) while simultaneously keeping your own dealer network happy and motivated.   Contract Architect: Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex OEM Supply Agreements and Distribution Rights Contracts. You understand the legalities of warranty transfer, indemnification, and territory restriction.   P&L Ownership: Ability to manage a complex P&L that includes new manufacturing (Chassis), service labor (Integration), and B2B Sales (OEM).
