About The Position

Central Market is a specialty grocery store that began in Austin, Texas, in 1994 and has since expanded to multiple locations across the state. Known for its fresh offerings, Central Market provides a wide selection of products, including hundreds of cheeses, thousands of wines, and extensive produce. The company emphasizes sourcing the finest food and drink globally and fostering a community around food. The Business Development Manager for Beer & Wine will be responsible for sourcing, developing, and curating an exceptional assortment of beers and wines from around the world. This role also involves shaping shopping experiences as a regional merchant, overseeing both merchandising and profitability programs.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of domestic and international beers, wines, and specialty beverages.
  • Understanding of major wine-producing regions, grape varieties, wine styles, flavor profiles, and country-specific traditions.
  • Knowledge of international beer styles, brewing methods, ingredients, and country-specific traditions.
  • Ability to recommend products based on customer preferences, taste profiles, and special occasions.
  • Understanding of food and beverage pairing principles.
  • Familiarity with seasonal, limited-release, and promotional products.

  • Leads the product development process from ideation to execution across multiple stores, collaborating with suppliers and internal partners.
  • Creates and executes a strategic category plan aligned with the unique shopping experience, staying ahead of market trends and customer preferences.
  • Identifies and establishes relationships with top-tier suppliers, continuously fostering relationships with new suppliers.
  • Provides complete execution guidance and maintains collaborative partnerships with store operations teams, staying aware of operational processes, challenges, and customer feedback.
  • Inspires and influences store and operations teams by sharing expertise and passion for products, providing training, product knowledge, merchandising, and sales strategies.
