About The Position

The Business Development Lead will support the Consumer Lending Vertical and interface with various external partners, owning and upleveling the NerdWallet portfolio of partners for the assigned business. The BD Lead will help shape the broader partnership strategy for assigned vertical(s), while evolving and delivering upon a defensible and sustainable partner value proposition. Responsible for partner management, prospect identification, strategy development, and economics optimization, including opportunity sizing, pricing negotiation, and the business case development to drive sustained revenue growth for the vertical. An individual contributor, this position will collaborate with teammate(s) that oversee partner relationships and program operations, while working directly with the category General Manager and Product leads to gain buy-in and execute initiatives. This is a dynamic, client-facing role requiring strategic thinking, operational excellence, and a proven record of managing partnerships that involve internal and external stakeholders. The BD Lead is capable of finding balanced and novel solutions to complex problems in often ambiguous situations. This role reports to the Director, Business Development.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in strategic and B2B partnership roles, with a demonstrated track-record of developing, nurturing, and successfully executing a strategy
  • Experience working with or for other digital affiliates, online-based businesses, and/or consumer acquisition
  • Proven track record of delivering and exceeding business results
  • Understanding of business models, products and strategies
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to become an expert
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Results oriented and analytical: Ability to identify and understand key business drivers, set meaningful goals, and track progress towards results
  • Strategic and methodical: Ability to analyze, learn, and understand situations quickly and holistically and focus on the activities that matter the most

  • Strong communicator and influencer: Ability to craft unified messages across different audience types: partners, team, collaborators, and executives

  • Organized: Excellent time management and organizational skills. Experience balancing numerous different priorities and demands
  • Entrepreneurial: You love working through ambiguous challenges and building new things

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and grow NerdWallet’s relationships with existing clients to meet revenue and performance targets across multiple high-impact partnerships
  • Drive and deliver short and long-term revenue growth through optimization and innovation
  • Identify, socialize, and execute new business initiatives in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Define and implement operational processes and standards to improve working efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide a positive and results-oriented work environment among team members and partners
