Position Summary As a Registry Business Development Intern, you will support Xpansiv’s Registry Solutions team in advancing the adoption of market-leading environmental and carbon market registry infrastructure. This hands-on internship offers exposure to clean energy, sustainability, environmental markets, registry technology, and business development while working alongside experienced professionals across strategy, sales, product, and operations. You will contribute to market research, business development initiatives, proposal development, and customer engagement activities while building a strong understanding of global environmental markets and the infrastructure that supports their integrity, traceability, and growth.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Public Policy, Energy, Communications, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in sustainability, climate solutions, environmental markets, renewable energy, or market-based approaches to environmental challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, intellectually curious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and contribute positively to a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework, internship experience, or extracurricular involvement related to sustainability, environmental policy, energy, climate finance, business development, sales, consulting, or technology.
  • Experience with data analysis, CRM platforms, market research databases, or visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with carbon markets, renewable energy certificates, environmental commodities, registry systems, or climate policy.
  • Experience preparing presentations, proposals, research briefs, or customer-facing materials.
  • Comfort working with colleagues and stakeholders across functions, cultures, and time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research on environmental and energy commodity markets, including carbon markets, renewable energy certificates, clean fuels, emerging registry programs, regulatory developments, and market participants.
  • Identify and organize prospective customers, partners, program sponsors, and other priority stakeholders using defined research criteria.
  • Support the preparation of business development materials, customer presentations, proposals, responses to requests for proposals, briefing notes, and market summaries.
  • Assist with customer and prospect engagement by preparing meeting materials, capturing notes and action items, and coordinating timely follow-up activities.
  • Maintain accurate business development records in CRM and internal tracking systems, including stakeholder information, opportunity status, and next steps.
  • Analyze market and customer information using Excel and other tools to identify trends, summarize findings, and support commercial decision-making.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across strategy, sales, product, operations, marketing, and legal to support business development initiatives and registry opportunities.
  • Monitor relevant industry news, public and private procurement opportunities, conferences, and market developments, and communicate findings to the team.
  • Help develop and update sales collateral, market maps, competitor research, and other resources that strengthen customer outreach and market positioning.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, customer calls, and selected industry events to deepen knowledge of registry solutions and environmental markets.
  • Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned, balancing multiple priorities and meeting agreed timelines.

Benefits

  • The anticipated hourly pay range for this internship is $20–$25 per hour for undergraduate students and $30–$35 per hour for graduate‑level students, based on a good‑faith estimate. Actual pay within these ranges may vary based on academic level, skills, and relevant experience, in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws.
