About The Position

Horizon Roofing is hiring a dedicated business development professional to support its growth from an established company with approximately 200 employees, 50 years of experience, and expected 2026 revenue exceeding $60 million toward a goal of $100 million in annual revenue within five years. The role focuses on creating new customer relationships and expanding existing ones, working alongside Horizon’s salespeople and estimators. It is not a sales-management position; the role does not supervise or replace salespeople or compete with them for accounts. The Business Development Executive will develop relationships with general contractors, data-center builders and owners, property-management companies, facility managers, and corporations. The work includes opening new accounts and working with current account owners to reach additional properties, offices, divisions, project teams, and decision-makers. This is a proactive, hands-on position involving prospect research, calls, personalized outreach, meetings, thoughtful questions, and consistent follow-through. The role qualifies customer needs and opportunities, coordinates introductions and background information with the appropriate salesperson or estimator, and stays involved through agreed follow-up and the award process. Salespeople and estimators lead technical recommendations, scope development, pricing, and proposals. The position also maintains account plans and accurate CRM records, keeps leadership and the sales team informed, and represents Horizon responsibly by coordinating internally before making commitments about pricing, schedules, staffing, or service coverage. Horizon provides commercial roofing, reroofing, roof repairs, maintenance, inspections, and architectural sheet metal services. The company emphasizes safety, customer service, technology, and continuous improvement, and has experienced sales, estimating, service, and operations teams supporting its customers.

Requirements

  • A demonstrated record of developing business, including the ability to explain personally opened commercial accounts or expanded relationships, the actions taken, and the results.
  • Comfort initiating conversations, reaching decision-makers, handling objections, and pursuing prospects thoughtfully when initial attempts do not produce a meeting.
  • Strong listening and communication skills, including asking useful questions, understanding customer priorities, and communicating clearly with customers and internal teams.
  • Organization and accountability in managing multiple relationships, using a CRM effectively, following through on commitments, and moving opportunities forward.
  • A team-oriented approach that includes sharing information and credit, respecting existing account relationships, and helping salespeople succeed.
  • Ability to meet the office, customer-visit, and travel expectations described in the posting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial roofing, construction, building services, property services, or another industry serving similar buyers.
  • Experience with general contractors, data-center organizations, property managers, facility leaders, or corporate owners.

Responsibilities

  • Use calls, personalized emails, LinkedIn, referrals, industry events, and in-person meetings to earn introductions and develop new customer relationships.
  • Work with current Horizon account owners to uncover opportunities at additional buildings, offices, divisions, and projects while strengthening rather than taking over established relationships.
  • Understand how customers buy, who influences decisions, their challenges, and the likely timing of work; qualify opportunities for fit with Horizon’s capabilities and establish clear next steps.
  • Coordinate customer introductions with Horizon salespeople and estimators and provide useful background about relationships, needs, decision-makers, and timing.
  • Stay involved through agreed follow-up and the award process without duplicating efforts or confusing customers.
  • Maintain accurate contacts, meeting notes, opportunities, and next steps in the customer relationship management system.
  • Keep leadership and the sales team informed about progress, obstacles, and support needed.
  • Build credibility through preparation, responsiveness, and honest communication.
  • Coordinate internally before making commitments about pricing, schedules, staffing, or service coverage.
