Business Development Engineer (Senior)

DevelopVerona, WI
Hybrid

About The Position

DEVELOP LLC is an engineering company that designs and builds custom machines and robotic integrations for manufacturers. We are a FANUC Authorized Systems Integrator and an A3 Certified Robot Integrator based in Verona, Wisconsin. This role exists to support the existing business development team, convert more deals, and increase volume as the company scales. The position is for a senior business developer ready to manage a full pipeline of commercial relationships that trend toward multi-million-dollar annual accounts. The founder currently manages this pipeline, but the volume has outgrown one person. The role involves working the pipeline, developing relationships, and closing engagements that connect engineers with the right clients.

Requirements

  • Manufacturing credibility: Minimum five years in or around manufacturing (on the floor, in the shop, in the process).
  • Ability to listen more than talk.
  • Ability to ask for the business without flinching, handle rejection, and move deals forward.
  • Curiosity and a genuine excitement for learning.
  • Optimism and belief in the work and the team.
  • Hunger to grow a business, not just hit a quota.
  • Discipline in pipeline management; open loops should be bothersome.
  • Patience for a long sales cycle and persistence to prevent deals from going quiet.
  • Honesty with clients about fit and with the team about issues.
  • Proven record of closing technical or engineered sales.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical sales or business development experience in automation, industrial equipment, or engineered products.
  • Familiarity with FANUC robotics, machine automation, or controls systems.
  • Engineering degree or business degree with deep manufacturing exposure.
  • HubSpot or similar CRM experience.

Responsibilities

  • Take marketing qualified meetings and turn them into relationships.
  • Represent DEVELOP at 3 to 8 trade shows annually.
  • Travel to client facilities to understand their problems.
  • Listen to clients to understand their actual needs and ask clarifying questions to identify the root problem.
  • Lead roadmap and assessment engagements end-to-end, including selling them, conducting on-site discovery, and presenting findings.
  • Educate clients on how automation projects work, what scoping means, and the importance of the first step.
  • Recognize growth-minded clients and sketch 2D concepts on a whiteboard or napkin.
  • Run deeper qualification on leads using the BANT+S framework.
  • Identify real opportunities from tire-kickers within one conversation.
  • Protect the engineering team's time by filtering out misaligned projects.
  • Maintain HubSpot to ensure every deal has a clear owner, stage, and next action.
  • Close paid scoping engagements or scoped machines.
  • Pass large complex builds and strategic expansions to the founder.
  • Own all other closing activities.
  • Build a book of accounts that grows year over year, where the customer calls first.
