About The Position

The main purpose of this job is to be responsible for building the branch, the team and the customer base from zero. This role goes beyond traditional branch management – it is about creating Commerce Bank’s presence and brand in the community, while delivering the disciplined operations, risk management and customer experience expected with Commerce Bank.

  • Strong knowledge of the banking, goal based, and needs based sales fields, including knowledge of best practices

  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 6+ years business development experience with a focus on new sales generation required
  • 3+ years managing sales and customer service experience required
  • 3+ years leadership experience required

Responsibilities

  • Establish and grow Commerce Bank’s footprint in the market through proactive prospecting, external calling, community engagement and involvement, and strategic partnerships
  • Spend a significant portion of time outside the branch calling on prospects, referral partners, and centers of influence
  • Build and manage a high quality, data driven prospect pipeline focused on new consumer and small business relationships for deposit, lending, and banking needs
  • Acquire, expand, and deepen primary client relationships, joining with Commerce Bank calling partners as appropriate
  • Lead the branch by using Agile principles, a test-and-learn mindset, prioritizing growth initiatives, executing quickly, measuring results, and pivoting as needed based on performance, data, and market feedback.
  • Translate enterprise strategy into clear, local action plans with measurable outcomes
  • Champion and personally model the Commerce Bank customer experience, ensuring consistency and quality across every interaction; role modeling the Branch experience framework for customer interactions and coaching to this model as well.
  • Use customer insights, feedback and outcomes to continuously improve service delivery and branch processes.
  • Actively engage in resolving complex client situations and turn service moments into relationship building opportunities
  • Maintain full accountability for branch operations, audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and risk management
  • Ensure the team remains current on products, systems, and regulatory requirements
  • Generate compliant practical solutions to operational challenges in a unique branch
  • Lead, mentor and motivate team members to implement the department strategy and manage department workflow with guidance on departmental projects/issues, and provide coaching and development opportunities appropriate to each direct report's individual needs
  • Perform all necessary management functions, including hiring, evaluations, annual increase allocations and disciplinary action as required
  • Communicate decisions, priorities and relevant information to team members effectively
  • Support budget management, planning, day-to-day branch administration, and expenditure
  • Perform other duties as assigned
