About The Position

A Business Data Analyst is responsible for creating reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics that provide business insight and aid business decision-making. The analyst uses querying languages like SQL, scripting languages like R or Python, and other tools like Power BI Desktop, Power BI Report Builder, SAS, Oracle & Microsoft SQL Server database clients, Tableau or Excel to produce reports and perform meaningful quantitative or qualitative analyses addressing impactful business issues or questions. The analyst also combines these reports with subject-matter expertise to deliver coherent, insightful takeaways and advice. The analyst collaborates with project stakeholders to better understand valuable objectives and KPIs and to design relevant reports and dashboards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of professional experience in a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to analyze data, including numerical detail, identify patterns or trends, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to present various data in clear concise forms to a variety of audiences.
  • Basic working knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, legal statutes, and analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Proficiency in querying languages like SQL and scripting languages like R or Python.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools like Tableau or Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex data and concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Data Warehousing, ETLs, De-normalization, and tuning techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics that provide business insight and support decision-making.
  • Build and develop SQL and functions to help locate data from the EIS systems.
  • Manages ad-hoc reports and projects as assigned.
  • Use querying languages like SQL, scripting languages like R or Python, and other tools like Tableau or Excel to manipulate, analyze, and present data.
  • Perform quantitative or qualitative analyses to address business issues or questions and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Apply subject-matter expertise and business acumen to interpret and communicate the results of the analyses.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand their objectives and KPIs and to design relevant reports and dashboards.
  • Ensure data quality and accuracy in the reports and dashboards.
  • Document the data sources, methodologies, and assumptions used in the reports and dashboards.
  • Demonstrating business awareness, critical analysis, and integration of information as well as the ability to develop action-oriented plans.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in business intelligence and data analysis.
