As a Business Continuity Specialist within PNC's Technology Security and Resilience organization, you will be based in Phoenix, AZ or Pittsburgh, PA. The Business Continuity Specialist strengthens organizational resilience by consulting with business partners throughout the continuity lifecycle, including risk assessments, business impact analyses, plan development and maintenance, quality reviews, testing, and continuous improvement. The role helps ensure critical operations have practical, compliant, and actionable recovery strategies by collaborating with business leaders, technology partners, and risk stakeholders, while incorporating lessons learned and evolving threats into preparedness efforts.

Requirements

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) certification.
  • 3-5 years of experience in continuity planning.
  • Experience in risk management, emergency management, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of business resiliency regulations, industry standards, and leading practices.
  • Proficiency with business continuity software and related tools.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, risk management or information technology or a related field.
  • Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 2+ years of relevant professional experience. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments and business impact analysis to identify potential threats, and their effects on business operations.
  • Consult with the business to develop, implement, maintain, and enhance comprehensive business continuity plans.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to business continuity.
  • Partner with Testing and Training & Awareness team to prepare business’s understanding of continuity roles, strategies, and procedures.
  • Perform quality reviews of business continuity plans to ensure effectiveness and update plans, as necessary.
  • Capture lessons learned from exercises and actual disruptions and incorporate improvements into future planning.
  • Assists in the development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans; oversees testing, emergency response, and recovery.
  • Guides the selection of operating strategies for the continuation of the business within a recovery time objective.
  • Supports business recovery, crisis management, emergency management, contingency planning and disaster-preparedness planning.
  • Provides support and expertise during live events.
  • Conducts, communicates, and maintains business continuity lifecycle.
  • Monitors and reports on the compliance of business continuity processes, readiness, events and exercise results.
  • Supports businesses in relationships with audit and government regulators on business continuity issues.
  • Develops, enhances and disseminates information on continuity processes, standards and initiatives.
  • Provides support for the development and delivery of training on business continuity.
