About The Position

The Business Continuity Specialist Sr. serves as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert, strengthening organizational resilience through leadership of business continuity and operational resilience initiatives. This role partners with senior leaders, risk management, technology teams, and business stakeholders to assess risks, identify critical business dependencies, develop recovery strategies, and drive continuous improvement across the business continuity lifecycle. The position ensures continuity programs align with regulatory expectations, industry standards, and organizational objectives while advancing preparedness for emerging threats and disruptive events.

Requirements

• Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) certification strongly preferred; additional resilience, risk, or emergency management certifications are advantageous.
• 7+ years of experience in business continuity, operational resilience, disaster recovery, risk management, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience leading business impact analyses, risk assessments, continuity planning programs, and resilience initiatives within complex organizations.
• Advanced knowledge of business continuity, operational resilience, risk management frameworks, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (FFIEC, ISO 22301, NIST, FEMA, or equivalent).
• Experience influencing and consulting with senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of technology recovery concepts, third-party resilience, cyber resilience, and dependency management.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive program improvements across multiple business units.
• Advanced analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong project and program management capabilities, including managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Risk Management, Information Technology, Emergency Management, or a related field.
• Ability to operate independently while effectively leading and collaborating across diverse teams and organizational levels.
• Customer Focused - Knowledgeable of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and able to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
• Managing Risk - Assessing and effectively managing all of the risks associated with their business objectives and activities to ensure they adhere to and support PNC's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise and line-of-business risk assessments, business impact analyses, and dependency mapping efforts to identify vulnerabilities and evaluate potential impacts to critical operations.
• Provide strategic consultation and guidance to business leaders in the development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of business continuity and operational resilience strategies.
• Drive governance and oversight activities to ensure continuity plans, recovery strategies, and resilience capabilities meet organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across business, technology, cybersecurity, risk management, and third-party management functions to strengthen organizational preparedness and recovery capabilities.
• Review and challenge continuity planning assumptions, recovery strategies, and documentation to ensure plans are comprehensive, actionable, and aligned with business objectives.
• Collaborate with Testing, Training, and Awareness teams to enhance organizational understanding of continuity roles, responsibilities, and recovery procedures.
• Analyze lessons learned from exercises, incidents, and disruptive events and drive the implementation of corrective actions and program enhancements.
• Monitor emerging risks, regulatory changes, and industry trends to continuously evolve continuity and resilience strategies.
• Develop and present continuity program metrics, risk insights, and resilience reporting to management and governance committees.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior continuity professionals and business partners, promoting consistency and maturity across the continuity program.
• Develops business continuity and disaster recovery plans; oversees testing, emergency response, and recovery.
• Provides insight on the selection of operating strategies for the continuation of the business within a recovery time objective.
• Leads business recovery, crisis management, emergency management, contingency planning and disaster-preparedness planning.
• Provides support and expertise during live events.
• Conducts, communicates, and maintains business continuity lifecycle planning and business impact analysis.
• Identifies and quantifies the potential impact of various disruptions and disaster scenarios.
• Participates in the preparation of reporting for the LOB committee/executive on the compliance of business continuity processes, readiness, events and exercise results.
• May partner with audit and government regulators on business continuity issues.
• Leads the development and enhancement of information on continuity processes, standards and initiatives.
• Provides support for the development and delivery of training on business continuity.
