About The Position

The Business Content Strategist is a role responsible for building, monitoring, and maintaining the content pipeline that delivers leaguewide business content to NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League teams. Working under the direction of TMBO leadership and in close partnership with colleagues across TMBO and other league departments, the Business Content Strategist will help move towards technology-enabled capabilities to document and contextualize best practices, case studies, and reporting on the NBA team business. This role will be essential to ensure the league's best thinking is consistently refined, captured, structured, and made available so team stakeholders can find and act on it.

Requirements

  • Clear written communication and editorial judgment; able to format complex business material into clean, structured content
  • Comfort interpreting business metrics and reporting for accuracy and consistency
  • Self-starter who can execute independently and manage multiple content streams
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels
  • Curious and consultative mindset, with the ability to ask thoughtful questions and draw out the most relevant insights from subject-matter experts
  • 1-2 years of experience in business operations, content creation, strategy, or a related function
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) in a work or academic setting
  • Solid experience with MS Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with content management systems, SharePoint, or digital knowledge platforms a plus
  • Exposure to data visualization tools (Tableau) a plus, but not required
  • Sports or Entertainment industry experience preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Identify and share trends and strategies that can improve team business efforts and drive innovative thinking.
  • Organize and package best practices, case studies, toolkits, workshop materials, and team memos, conducting and maintaining an inventory for review and reference.
  • Manage the operations for TMBO content strategy, ensuring a steady, high-quality flow of leaguewide best practices, strategy frameworks, and analytical insights to teams.
  • Participate in team consulting across all areas of team business and develop a strong understanding of team activations in support of marketing, partnerships, and ticketing revenue generation efforts.
  • Monitor and maintain the intake-to-publish content pipeline — identifying gaps in content, sourcing materials from TMBO verticals, preparing them for distribution, and keeping the queue moving on a consistent cadence.
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Strategy & Analytics department to contextualize KPIs and analytical trends — translating reporting into clear, business-ready narratives that help teams understand what the numbers mean and how to act on them.
  • Prepare and structure content so it can be reliably searched, surfaced, and cited by AI-enabled tools, following established formatting and metadata standards.
  • Work with TMBO content contributors to keep best practice case studies pipeline up to date, following established review and refresh cadences.
