About The Position

The Business Banking - Portfolio Manager II manages an assigned portfolio of Small Business and/or Business Banking loans, ensuring credit quality, compliance with Bank Credit Policy, and alignment with the Bank’s growth objectives. The position partners with SBCs, Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, and business leaders to structure credit solutions, monitor borrower performance, identify emerging risks, and provide timely portfolio reviews and recommendations. The role supports sound credit decisions that balance client needs with prudent risk management, sustain client relationships, protect the Bank’s assets, and contribute to long-term profitability. It also engages borrowers and external advisors, monitors portfolio documentation and compliance, and completes special projects and other required duties.

Requirements

Undergraduate degree (four years or equivalent) in Business, Finance, or a related field.
At least four years of experience in credit analysis, portfolio management, or commercial/consumer lending.
Strong knowledge of financial statements and credit analysis techniques.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and financial research tools.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships.
Effective organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Manage an assigned portfolio of Small Business and/or Business Banking loans, ensuring credit structures remain appropriate and comply with Bank Credit Policy.
Conduct periodic reviews of borrower performance, analyzing repayment capacity, leverage, and key risk factors; document recommendations and identify and escalate early warning signals.
Recommend modifications, renewals, or restructuring when appropriate.
Partner with SBCs and Relationship Managers to deepen client relationships, provide credit expertise, and support business development goals for companies with up to $30 million in revenue.
Engage with borrowers, attorneys, accountants, and other external advisors to validate financial performance and address portfolio issues.
Collaborate with Credit Officers and senior leaders to support credit decisions that balance client needs with prudent risk management.
Track receipt of financial statements, tax returns, borrowing base certificates, guarantor information, and covenant compliance documentation.
Monitor adherence to financial covenants and loan terms, and prepare detailed reports on portfolio risk trends and exceptions.
Ensure portfolio management activities adhere to regulatory and compliance requirements and mitigate risk exposure to the Bank.
Perform special projects and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Adhere to regulatory and compliance policies and standards, complete required compliance training, and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
