About The Position

The Business Banker will be responsible for collecting, assessing, and maintaining corporate documents to ensure a strong and safe relationship between customers/businesses and Partner Colorado Credit Union. This role involves evaluating documents for potential risks, clearing issues, and ensuring mitigating strategies are in place within the business. The Banker is expected to provide exceptional private banking-level service, fostering long-term client loyalty. Key responsibilities include identifying and executing opportunities for new business growth and development, thoroughly understanding client businesses, their growth plans, environmental changes, regulatory conditions, and basic service needs to optimize performance while protecting the Credit Union's interests and avoiding legal/regulatory issues. The role also involves streamlining business practices that are financially and compliantly sound, while maintaining a great member experience.

Requirements

  • Business Account knowledge
  • BSA Certification and understanding
  • Ability to self-train on new industries and apply knowledge to protect Partner Colorado
  • Ability to STRICTLY follow and adhere to regulatory guidelines and rules surrounding the service to this industry
  • One year of related experience in a financial institution
  • High school graduate
  • Capable of preserving confidential or sensitive information
  • Effective time management, organization and multi-tasking skills
  • BSA Certified

Responsibilities

  • Collect and evaluate corporate documentation to determine risk levels associated with corporate structure, financials, and practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on assigned clients, ensuring collection and updating of expired licenses, leases, insurance, etc.
  • Determine when additional supporting documentation is required to ensure practices are in place for the safety and soundness of the client relationship.
  • Review and evaluate financial documentation (income statement, balance sheets, tax documents) for interpretation of business activities and financial transactions.
  • Manage documentation, closing, funding, disbursement, and servicing of business loans.
  • Handle lien perfections, lien terminations, and document archiving.
  • Collect annual due diligence documents and conduct annual due diligence reviews for business loans.
  • Monitor deposits and collect supporting documentation to validate deposits from legal activities.
  • Ensure funds are not released until sufficient support documentation is obtained.
  • Determine when reporting requirements for BSA/FINCEN are triggered due to insufficient documentation or lack of transparency.
  • Discuss uncomfortable situations with clients regarding insufficient documentation and work towards resolution or termination.
  • Meet private banking model standards, including minimizing paperwork, completing forms for client signatures, and conducting on-site meetings.
  • Monitor account activity monthly to establish trends, patterns, and analyze data for suspicious activities that might trigger BSA reporting.
  • Maintain solid, reliable records on monitoring for compliance oversight.
  • Document interactions with clients for compliance scrutiny.
  • Monitor outgoing payments to ensure FINCEN guidelines / Red Flags are sufficiently addressed.
  • Monitor reporting requirements for assigned clients and meet all deadlines.
  • Apply regulatory guidelines to all account and client activities.
  • Maintain BSA Certification.
  • Uncover or discover issues that trigger reporting, account holds/freezes and work with the VP of Commercial Risk to take appropriate action.
  • Understand the ramifications of banking specific industries and protect the organization and self from legal action.
  • Monitor the industry for changes and trends that may impact banking.
  • Assist businesses with bundling moneys, setting up secure pick-up/delivery services.
  • Assist businesses with determining services needed and making formal recommendations.
  • Assist businesses with merchant services.
  • Perform on-site verifications annually.
  • Maintain confidentiality on policies, procedures, and business model.
  • Interface with IRS, DEA, FBI, DOR and any other agency on subpoenas & inquiries under the supervision of the VP of Commercial Risk.
  • Review and understand business financials.
  • Train other Business Bankers as required.
  • Document all business activities to the satisfaction of auditors and examiners.
  • Conduct annual reviews of assigned Business accounts.
  • Be prompt and always follow through with members.
  • Maintain a private banking atmosphere for the client.
  • Adhere to assigned position goals.
  • Understand complex business structures and document requirements for each.
