About The Position

Business Application Lead acts as a bridge between technical execution and business strategy, ensuring our digital tools are robustly maintained and continuously evolving. The role provides essential technical mentorship to the team and exercises independent judgement to ensure business systems align with the corporate goals.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or IT, ideally paired with a strong business background.
  • 5-10 years of hands-on ERP experience (QAD preferred) and crafting advanced BI dashboards (IBM Cognos preferred).
  • A good grasp of financial and management accounting principles; you should understand the "why" behind the data you manage.
  • The ability to translate complex analytical results into clear, actionable stories for stakeholders.
  • Strong sense of leadership and ability to manage a team of 1-2 people.
  • Strong ability to build relationships with non-IT teams and contribute to the overall direction of the organization.
  • Excellent communication and business writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse levels of management and staff.
  • Dynamic personality, excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated and driven.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and help with the design and development of programs within our QAD ERP system, utilizing Progress OpenEdge.
  • Help with the modification and modernization of critical custom applications, including Shopfloor, QA, and Inventory scanning systems.
  • Build out our Power BI and Cognos environments, designing the dashboards and ETL processes (DataStage/DB2) that turn raw data into executive insights.
  • Explore the transition of some legacy systems to mobile-first, cross environment and cloud-based deployments to unify data across all our facilities.
  • Take ownership of the "health" of our applications, performing database administration, software upgrades, and prompt bug resolution to ensure zero business disruption.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team (including Senior Programmer/Analyst and Systems Analyst), providing technical mentorship and helping with code reviews necessary to maintain high design standards.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to the senior and executive leadership teams (SLT/ELT), deliver sensitive consolidated financial reporting, align IT capabilities with corporate goals and take part in Internal and External Audits.
  • Participate in recruitment activities and hiring decisions for the assigned team.
  • Conduct annual career development and competencies reviews (CDCR) for the direct reports, exercise performance management where appropriate.
  • Manage team’s daily workloads and ensure all team activities align with company policies and business requirements.
  • Be a role model of the Company’s core values and guiding principles, while cultivating high performing teams, encourage teamwork through guidance and mentorship.
