About The Position

The Business Applications & Database Developer designs, develops, and supports databases, data integrations, and internal business applications that improve the effectiveness of Sales, Product Management, Product Quality, Marketing, and other business teams. This role combines database development, application development, workflow automation, systems integration, and data-quality management. The position will also support product management and marketing teams with web research, competitive benchmarking, analytics, and e-commerce data management.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Management, or a related discipline.
Three or more years of experience in database development, business application development, or a related technical role.
Strong SQL skills and experience with relational database design.
Experience building internal business applications, workflow applications, or web-based tools.
Familiarity with AI tools is required.
Experience integrating applications with databases, APIs, and third-party systems.
Understanding of data modeling, data quality, system security, testing, and software development practices.
Ability to translate business processes into practical technical solutions.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work directly with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases.
Experience with application frameworks such as React, Node.js, .NET, or comparable technologies.
Experience with low-code platforms such as Microsoft Power Apps, Replit, or similar tools.
Experience with Power BI, Power Automate, Microsoft 365, Shopify, ERP, CRM, or product-information systems.
Experience developing APIs.
Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or another cloud environment.
Experience in distribution, automotive aftermarket, manufacturing, product management, or e-commerce is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Design and maintain database schemas, tables, relationships, views, stored procedures, functions, and indexes.
Develop databases supporting product, vehicle fitment, OEM cross-reference, competitor cross-reference, customer, sales, and quality information.
Optimize database and application performance.
Establish data-validation rules and controls to improve data completeness, consistency, accuracy, and uniqueness.
Identify and resolve duplicate, incomplete, outdated, or conflicting records.
Maintain data dictionaries, field definitions, database diagrams, and technical documentation.
Leverage AI tools to accelerate and improve database development.
Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain internal business applications.
Develop applications supporting processes such as: New Product Introduction and stage-gate workflows, Customer product requests and RFQs, Product portfolio and gap analysis, Product cross-reference and fitment management, Product sample and quality inspection management, Warranty and claim management.
Build approval workflows, task management tools, and automated notifications.
Create intuitive forms, dashboards, search tools, reports, and workflow solutions.
Build responsive, user-friendly applications for nontechnical employees.
Develop prototypes and minimum viable products to validate solutions before broader deployment.
Continuously improve applications based on user feedback and changing business needs.
Integrate internal applications with ERP, e-commerce, product information, reporting, and other business systems.
Build and maintain APIs, automated data imports and exports, and ETL/ELT processes.
Automate manual processes currently managed through spreadsheets, emails, and disconnected systems.
Configure automated alerts, assignments, approval requests, and status notifications.
Support integrations with platforms such as Microsoft 365, Power BI, Shopify, and other business systems.
Create data models and reporting structures for dashboards and management reporting.
Partner with business users and analysts to define KPIs and reporting requirements.
Ensure reporting data is accurate, timely, traceable, and consistent across systems.
Meet with business stakeholders to understand objectives, workflows, pain points, and system requirements.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications, data structures, application designs, and development plans.
Map current and future business processes.
Manage development tasks from concept through testing, deployment, user training, and ongoing support.
Communicate project status, risks, and decisions to business stakeholders.
Develop testing plans and perform functional, integration, performance, and user-acceptance testing.
Diagnose and resolve application, database, integration, and data issues.
Establish role-based access, user permissions, and appropriate controls for sensitive data.
Follow company requirements for security, backups, change management, and disaster recovery.
Maintain version-controlled database and application code.
Train users and create application instructions, process documentation, and support materials.
Monitor deployed applications and respond to production issues.
