About The Position

The Business Application Administrator (BAA) is responsible for production cloud-based application systems support, application configuration, software release management and manage integrations (Application Programming Interfaces) with other systems. The ideal candidate will have strong problem analysis skills. The position interacts regularly with other Information Technology staff as well as end users and vendor personnel, thus requiring excellent verbal and written communication skills. The BAA serves as chair of the Systems Governance committee and level 3 support with responsibility for configuration, coordination, communication of changes to systems functions and problem troubleshooting and resolution as the primary interface with cloud-based vendor providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Expertise in software-development processes and methods
  • Must have a high level of expertise in PC computers (i.e., spreadsheets (pivot tables), word processing, and large document management)
  • Ability to move from task to task efficiently
  • Ability to provide meaningful training to system users
  • Ability to learn new software.
  • A high degree of written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills/Emotional Intelligence

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years cloud-based software administration experience
  • Training experience
  • Experience in Research Administration software (OneAegis, Kuali Research, CITI) and website tools (Brightspot)
  • Experience in using Excel pivot tables
  • Knowledge of institutional compliance Committees (IRB, IACUC, IBC)
  • Knowledge of sponsored projects (grants and contracts)
  • Experience in Project Management (PMP Certification)

Responsibilities

  • Provides daily support of multiple mission critical production systems, including the troubleshooting of production problems and determination of root cause of issues
  • Maintains application and data environments for development, test, staging, and production.
  • Tracks vendor software release schedules; coordinates testing and installation of new versions of software. Migrates applications from test environments to the production environment. Including developing Test Scripts: Conducts functional testing and validation to ensure exceptional user experience.
  • Supports end users as an application subject matter expert by responding to questions about application configuration, capabilities, and functionality.
  • Liaison with (Level 1) support through IT Help Desk to create and maintain their Knowledge Base.
  • Work with other staff and students in their System Support (Level 2). Work with dept associate directors to develop user training materials and teach end users.
  • Create reports within cloud-based vendor reports systems. Perform manual corrections as requested/needed.
  • Manages application roles and permissions.
  • Documents system maintenance steps and instruction from vendors.
  • Liaison with cloud-based website provider to create and maintain dept websites.
  • Explore, Create, Manage updates and changes
