Business Analytics Associate
About The Position
Under direct supervision, the Business Analytics Associate is primarily responsible for supporting the formulation of hypotheses, translation of data, design/measurement of experiments and generation of insights to inform business decisions by using various data mining techniques. The Business Analytics Associate uses data to perform basic diagnostic analyses and assists the team's diagnostic projects to provide answers to questions such as "Why did it happen?" and "What action can I take?". Through the use of reporting and execution of ad hoc requests by pulling data and creating basic analysis and the inspection and control of testing procedures, the Business Analytics Associate identifies trends and outliers. Success criteria include: timely and effective handling of data or analytics requests assigned by manager; providing input into basic business or analytical challenges faced by the team; developing communication skills, business acumen, and critical thinking; and establishing relationships with peers and broader team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Data Sciences, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics or equivalent work experience in analytics or similar industry experience(required)
- Minimum 1 year experience in demonstrating practical data application
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, data visualization and data mining techniques
- Beginner-intermediate database querying skill
- Exposure to data integration
- Familiar with and capacity for analytical programming
- Developing written and verbal skills; beginning to develop ability to organize information in clear, consistent format; Capacity to develop ability to articulate a clear, well-thought-out message and formal delivery; Minimal skills in creating PowerPoint presentations
- Able to work independently under general direction / supervision
- Developing ability to build relationships, partner, and influence
- Developing basic understanding of business partner strategy; Building financial acumen
- Developing critical thinking skills; Can analyze simple issues with low complexity; Can give perspective to the team addressing basic business/analytical problems and challenges; Recognizes need to escalate issues in a timely manner
Nice To Haves
- 1 years experience in an analytics program or function (preferred)
- Experience in banking/ financial services industry with a basic understanding of key drivers of financial results (preferred)
- reside in the Eastern or Central time zone; work Eastern hours
- Preferred Locations: Cleveland, OH & Buffalo, NY
Responsibilities
- Pull basic data and provide reoccurring reporting and ad hoc requests
- Create simple analysis to support the production of insights into relevant business questions under general direction / supervision
- Develop basic visualizations and PowerPoint presentations
- Provide input with addressing basic business/analytical problems and challenges
