About The Position

PhoenixTeam is seeking a Business Analyst to support a modernization initiative within a federal client looking to expand AI-enabled capabilities. The Business Analyst will gather and document requirements, analyze current-state workflows, and support the transition to real-time, automated data exchange that reduces administrative friction and manual processing for Federal customer staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting IT modernization, systems integration, or software delivery projects.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements, including user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Familiarity with API-based integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft) and cloud/serverless architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda).
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder working sessions and translating business needs into actionable requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance / favorable suitability determination.

Nice To Haves

  • Mortgage, fintech, or other regulated industry experience (preferred, not required — willingness to learn quickly is essential).
  • Experience supporting Federal customer programs or other federal government agencies.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Agentforce, or similar CRM/AI-agent platforms.
  • Experience with FedRAMP
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Business analysis certification (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA).

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Facilitate working sessions with product, engineering, data, and business SME stakeholders to capture current-state (“as-is”) processes and define target-state (“to-be”) workflows.
  • Translate requirements into user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria that guide development and testing teams.
  • Analyze and identify dependencies, risks, and data quality issues.
  • Partner with engineering teams to validate alignment with customer-approved technology requirements.
  • Support impact analysis and change management activities to help business and technical stakeholders transition to real-time, automated data exchange.
  • Maintain requirements traceability, decision logs, and supporting documentation across the initiative.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and open issues to program leadership and stakeholders in clear, actionable terms.
