About The Position

AKIVA is an AI-native engineering firm specializing in enterprise services, domain-specific solutions, and high-performance infrastructure from strategy through deployment. AKIVA is seeking a Business Analyst to support a state government licensing and permitting system in Louisiana. You will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, gathering requirements, analyzing processes, documenting specifications, and ensuring solutions meet the agency’s operational needs. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively within a government technology environment. Requirements

  • 3+ years of business analysis experience in IT or enterprise system environments
  • Strong experience with requirements gathering, documentation, and business process modeling
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with SQL for data querying and analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder presentations
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum or Waterfall development methodologies
  • Strong analytical thinking with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently in a government or public sector environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with state government IT systems, licensing, or permitting platforms
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, or similar project management/collaboration tools
  • CBAP, CCBA, or PMI-PBA certification
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, or dashboard development
  • Familiarity with AI-powered analysis and automation tools

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and observation
  • Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications for development teams
  • Map current-state and future-state business processes to identify gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Develop user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, and process flow diagrams
  • Facilitate communication between business stakeholders, project managers, and technical teams
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by developing test plans, test cases, and coordinating testing activities
  • Analyze data to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights for program decision-making
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and dashboards for management and stakeholder review
  • Ensure requirements align with state regulatory, compliance, and audit standards
  • Leverage AI-powered tools provided by AKIVA to accelerate documentation, analysis, and reporting tasks
