About The Position

This role focuses on enhancing a developed tool for FBV use in standing up new colo environments. The goal is to transform this tool into a valuable daily resource for identifying configuration anomalies proactively (configuration drift) and reactively during production incidents. The enhancement will involve adding automation and visual display of results, allowing developers and production support to instantly assess the condition of all environments. Data points can range from basic information like directory structure and ownership to advanced configurations such as WebSphere custom configs, database auto-extends, and TLS encryption levels. This enhanced tool is expected to be demoed for Check processing within a couple of months as an example for other business lines, as most key data points are portable across systems. It will be valuable for ensuring Colo environment parity before ACH colo cutover, offering a single view of all environments to significantly improve system stability, reduce configuration drift, and identify abnormalities before they become problems.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent.
• 5 to 10 plus years of work-related experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
• Independent thinking and decision-making abilities.
• Strong programming skills in Java with strong object-oriented skills.
• Proficient knowledge of at least one Unix or Unix variant system.
• Proficient knowledge of at least one major relational database system.
• 3-4 plus years of experience in large systems software design and development experience.
• Working knowledge of database SQL, creating objects and stored procedures is a plus.
• Good understanding of agile software development methodologies and the contrasts to waterfall methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Enhance a tool for FBV use in standing up new colo environments to compare server configurations across all environments.
• Add automation to the tool to identify anomalies proactively (configuration drift) and reactively during production incidents.
• Implement visual display of results to allow instant assessment of environment conditions.
• Incorporate data points such as directory structure, ownership, account permissions, WebSphere custom configs, database auto-extends settings, and TLS encryption levels.
• Demonstrate the enhanced tool for Check processing as an example for other business lines.
• Ensure Colo environment parity ahead of ACH colo cutover.
• Improve system stability, reduce configuration drift, and identify abnormalities before they become problems.
