Requirements

  • A minimum of a 4-year diploma or degree in Business Administration with a focus on Information Technology
  • A minimum of 8-years of progressive work experience in the Information Technology sector, particularly within a software development environment
  • A minimum of 5-years as a Business Analyst, together with experience in managing customer relationships and project coordination or project management
  • Knowledge of SDLC processes required
  • Advanced skills with diagramming software (MS Visio) and project management software (such as Microsoft Project), MS Office skills (Word, Excel)
  • Effective interpersonal skills to deal with competing demands from various sources, ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, all while building and managing customer relationships
  • Experience writing internal communications, reports, business cases, systems papers and best practices; preparing and delivering presentations and conducting meetings in a large, complex computing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Additional courses in Business Analysis, Project Management would be preferred
  • An ITIL Foundations level of certification is an asset
  • Familiarity/training with Ellucian Banner or similar student information system

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in the analysis and implementation of information systems and acts as project coordinator for Enterprise Systems projects.
  • Understands users’ business requirements, clarifies users’ issues, develops technical specifications and provides instruction to the development team.
  • Provides advice to College and University staff on current and new information systems.
  • Works with departments to implement a best practice strategy for enhancing existing technology and selecting new systems.
  • Identifies and analyses the business requirements of the users and stakeholders to recommend solutions to their business problems or needs.
  • Documents the business requirements in detail for requested code changes or new processes; meets with the business users to assess and review requests for changes; determine what impact the changes may have; recommends resources to examine the codes and/or functionality of the applicable modules.
  • Creates and executes communication plans with all users, development team, management to ensure understanding and agreement by all involved with respect to the work to be performed and the methodology and processes to be used.
  • Provides support to users in the conduct of user acceptance testing, walkthroughs, user documentation and training materials, liaising with developers to address problems with system changes, post implementation reviews.
  • Acts as project coordinator for projects which the Director, Enterprise Systems is project managing, determines staff utilization and project capacity, identify issues and risks, prepares project schedules, subtasks, dependencies, timelines, communication plans and monitors the progress of work against the project schedule.
  • Creates reports in response to special requests from senior College staff.
